Flytrans and Airlink International Shoot for the Moon

FLYTRANS, Mock-up of potential moon habitat

In October, France-based Flytrans, a member of all 3 IFLN Networks, handled the shipment of a very interesting cargo – a mock-up potential moon habitat – from France to Dubai for its display at the International Astronautical Congress 2021 that took place in the Emirate at the end of that month.

Flytrans was approached by a French start-up company, Spartan Space, to handle the shipment of the prototype moon habitat complete with dismantlable living and working space that is designed to be applicable to manned moon or Mars missions (they are also designed to be suitable as underwater habitats).

In turn, Flytrans contacted regular partner and fellow IFLN member Airlink International in Dubai for its help in receiving the shipment in the UAE.

Flytrans arranged the transport of the shipment of the 60m3 consignment of moon habitat prototype by Emirates freighter from France to Dubai, explains Benjamin Gasquet, the cargo agent’s branch manager in Lyon. It also looked after the crating and packaging of the dismantled living environment.

“There were no problems, everything went smoothly,” Gasquet reports. “We kept the customer fully informed throughout and kept costs down.” As a result, the customer was more than happy, he recalls.
